Medical Equipment Support Provided to Badano Hospital
Lammiif Relief & Development Organization (LRDO) in cooperation with the US-based Project Cure and Haramaya University donated medical supplies worth 600,000 US dollars to Bedeno Hospital.
During the handed-over ceremony Mrs. Miski Mohammed, administrator of East Hararghe Zone Administration, said that the support given by the Ethiopians living abroad in coordination with Haramaya University is an exemplary act. This will enable the health institutions to provide better medical services by improving the services of health institutions, she said adding that local investors should follow in the footsteps of the Diaspora and participate in the development of their country.
In addition, Mrs. Miski explained that the government will provide appropriate support for the efforts of Ethiopians living abroad in health, education, and other sectors.
She said that Mr. Feraha Abdullahi, Dr. Obsa Hassan, Mr. Nuredin Sule and others who inspired and coordinated the Ethiopian generation abroad should be thanked for their desire and determination to support their people with the donation made.
On the other hand, when the representatives of the Diaspora handed over the aid, they were happy with the warm welcome given to them by the government bodies at all levels and the residents of the city.
They expressed that they are motivated to work more to help the society not only in the health sector but also in other areas.
Haramaya University College of Health and Medical Sciences Chief Executive, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed, said that the support will help to improve the services of health institutions, so the community can be treated closer without going far.
Dr. Ahmed added that the support will benefit the citizens by improving the medical services provided in all hospitals and health facilities.
Dr. Ahmed stated that the donated medical equipment was based on the enthusiasm of the citizens and said that many modern medical equipment included foreign standard beds, blood pressure and heart rate monitors, and other expensive and necessary medical equipment.
The donation handover was made to the hospital in the presence of Ms. Miski Mohammed and members of the Cabinet of the Zone and District, senior leaders and workers of Beddeno District and health professionals, and representatives of the dwellers, Abba Gada, religious leaders, elders, as well as local and urban community groups.
